Seasoning Grill Grates

Anyone tried another approach instead of an onion?

I did the onion on the grate side and it seemed to work fine.  I seasoned the back by doing smash burgers with 80/20.  The sides are both basically the same as far as non-stick goes.

Honestly, after a couple of cooks, they are so "seasoned" you won't remember how you did it.  You just want that first cook to release from the aluminum.  I imagine if your protein has some fat in it and you get them good and hot first, nothing will stick to them, even when new.

They are really forgiving and really awesome grates as long as you don't melt them.

I know I'm a rebel, but I douse them in cooking spray. Nothing sticks!
