How to adjust lid?

Okay, this shouldn’t be this hard…my kid doesn’t want to stay in the open position, can someone show me (maybe mark on this photo) which bolts to adjust?

Lid is lifted and held open with the assistance of your springs. By their appearance I believe your springs are shot. Your dealer should have ones to buy with the proper tension. They are not expensive. Just any ol' spring from a hardware store won't do the trick.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Or, your egg is not level. If it is tilted just a hair toward the front, the dome will close when you let go of the handle. Don't ask me how I know.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Thanks, will get a new spring on order.

on the bottom of the spring is a bolt that needs to be tight and perpendicular to the hinge. it loosens and tilts up loosening the spring tension. that and putting a level on the gasket surface are the two main problems. ive had a spring issue once and it had cracked losing tension but the spring is a rare issue, its usually the bottom spring bolt or egg tipping slightly forward

I'd never heard of that before, fish. I just checked mine and they are tight, but as short as that bolt is then even if (at least mine anyway) were to loosen the full half inch I don't see how that slight tilt could mess up the tension enough to cause his problem. I'm betting that like you and CQ suggest - his egg is no longer level though I still think his rusty springs are also possible culprits.fishlessman said:on the bottom of the spring is a bolt that needs to be tight and perpendicular to the hinge. it loosens and tilts up loosening the spring tension.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -

There's the difference - my spring is flush to the band and there is only 1 thin washer and 1 nut. That bolt in your picture is much longer than mine.fishlessman said:RRP said:

my first egg was the first year with springs, around maybe 2001, and the second large was 2004, both have the same setup with the outer acorn set with a space for the spring containment

They do loosen up over time. Here's one beginning to loosen.

Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.
