When you get there, don’t be surprised to find a drunken @DMW sleeping on an Army cot at said shop. 😎

Extremely IMPRESSIVE, Nola! Messy or not. But I really have to ask you. I see many thousands of dollars of tools, motorcycles and what else!

I have to assume you must have reinforced steel entry doors...maybe even a high powered security system....not that I plan to come down there with a semi and steal all of it!

Hell, he doesn't even have insurance.  In NO.
I'll go in halfies with you on the semi.

I have insurance on the wood shop behind my house.

Ron, there's an alarm system that stopped working years ago.  Steel doors with digital locks.  The back is behind a 6' fence, solid steel with locks.  There are motion activated lights everywhere, 8 HD cameras that are hard to miss.  Not worried about it.  Our neighborhood is pretty safe, never had a package stolen off the porch (but some a-hole was stealing out Sunday paper until we busted him).

The big shop is a 5 minute drive in a safe area right near the Gretna police station.  Very safe.  I don't have insurance there, I'm considering it.

@nolaegghead what your take on the grizzly slow speed ginder that’s a knockoff of the tormek?

@FarmingPhD i have never used the Tormek, but it is high quality.  Made in Germany.  The Tormek accessories work with it.  I have some of them. About half the price

I'm jealous you get a Sunday paper!
My Ogden paper is only about 6 pages now, and they no longer publish on Sunday.  The SLC paper went to a "non-profit" status last year, and only publish on paper once a week (Sunday) but their price went up to $260/year, I had to drop them.
It frightens me when the billionaires control even the news sources, but what can we do?   :|

Well you can still support your local newspaper by subscribing to the digital edition for about half the newsprint price.

My Fein was used and was a gift. It's a model 9.55.13 which has been discontinued. It is well made and sucks! I would buy another Fein if and when this one dies.

My preference is Festool.  There was a backlog for the CT 15 when ordering a 2nd tool dust collector so I ordered the Fein Turbo 1.  On the up side, larger capacity, comes with attachments and cheaper.  On the down side, cheap hose (but the CT 15 also has one), no variable speed motor, louder.

If money is no object get the Hilti.  Otherwise the Festool and the Fein if on a budget.

    Late to comment-

I owned an older home with lots of issues and lots of potential.  I bought a compact table saw with a stand and extensions, good mitre saw, decent router and inexpensive table, Belt Sander, Palm Sander, Bisquit Joiner.  I added a finish and a brad nailer as time went on.

I was able to make most everything I put my mind to- likely a planer or joiner was the next step.

Over time I got rid of the table saw- took up too much space and I took up other hobbies (and kids) and got out of it.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.

@xfire_ATX thank you for the insight.   I ended up finding a deal on a table saw last week.  I’ve pretty much decided to go with your same basic setup, now I just need to find a nice belt and palm sander.

Off Topic in a way, but a few years back I believe WOOD magazine had rated a bunch of medium priced vacuums so based on their high recommendation I bought this 6 (peak) HP, 14 gallon Ridgid. It wasn't for my workshop sucking sawdust, but for yard work picking up acorns and hickory nuts. By slaving a dust and chip separator that makes it easier to clean up the several hundred pounds of nuts I fight each year. That also prevents compromising the Ridgid filter and keeps the vacuum operating at the peak suction power.

I have one of those, but trust me I have LOTS OF TREES AND LOTS OF NUTS and would spend all day just dumping that Nut Wizard! Besides that where the oaks and hickories overlap since the nut sizes are different a single hickory nut caught in the spring wire can let many of the previously collected acorns fall back out. Talk about frustration!!!

I've got the same vacuum for my shop! I don't connect it to anything but the RO sander, but it's great for cleaning up. I have a blower mounted over a Dust Deputy and exhausting into a pleated filter back to the room. Stay away from those dust collectors with the bags; they will just pump the fines right back into your lungs.

I take it that she is gathering nuts such as pecans to consume perhaps? or hickories and acorns to feed the squirrels in the winter?

If she wants to come by here in the Fall she can have all the nuts she wants and won't have to walk all over town!

Pecans for gifts and consuming. I bought her one of these too https://lawn-gardening-tools.com/Item/Electric-Pecan-Cracker but she has a hard time keeping up with it.
