Set her down, pan in hand, with a piece of sandpaper, and wait. Have Donna Summer's disco version of "McCarther's Park" playing, loud, over and over. And sing along with the line "And I'll never have that recipe agaaain. AgaaAAAAAAin!!!"
I would've been a cruel parent. But my kids would've been almost as awesome as I am. Good luck!

Put it in a 1 gallon ziploc with some white vinegar. Slosh it around couple times a day for a couple days. Sand any rough spots that are left and rinse well. After seasoning it will look like new.

Cut a potato in half, sprinkle coarse salt into the pan and rub in with the meat of the potato. do this for a while until the rust and debris is removed. Wipe dry and season with oil.
Put pan in the oven (after rubbing down with oil) for 30 minutes at 250 degrees.
Take out and rub down again with oil. Put in oven for 30 minutes at 250 degrees.
Remove and let cool down. Wipe excess oil from pan and you're done.

Bead blast or use electrolysis if it's really bad. Oxalic acid, phosphoric acid, nitric or hydrochloric acid work great if you have it.There's oxalic acid in Barkeeper's Friend. That also has feldspar, which is the grainy abrasive, which helps mechanically rub it out. (heh...heh heh)______________________________________________I love lamp..

I've used barkeeper's friend quite a few times to restore CI, it works great. If you really want to speed things up, head to your local hardware store and pick up a brass wire brush that attaches to a drill.nolaegghead said:Bead blast or use electrolysis if it's really bad.
