Rainbow Trout on the Egg
I would like to grill whole rainbow trout on the Egg. Does anyone have a good recipe, some cooking instructions (raised grid, direct, indirect, temp, etc...), and/or any general observations?[p]Whenever I buy fish I am always tempted by the whole trout for sale, however, my special lady friend is usually too grossed out by the sight of the whole fish to be interested in eating it (I could buy fillets, but grilling the whole fish seems much more fun). Tonight I am going to let her eat peanut butter sandwiches in protest while I enjoy my Egged trout.[p][p]

Hobbs,[p]Below is a link to a good thread started by Rick and some amazing photographs. About halfway through is his technique. [p]I just did a whole brown trout, but it was planked.[p]

Hobbs,
this was a fresh water salmon, would be as good with trout but only cook it till the flesh flakes with a fork, it wont take as long as this fish was about 4 or 5 pounds.

<p />thirdeye,

hey thanks! i was reading this from work but i can't (or shouldn't post) from there. i wanted to post so bad and then here you come and post it for me! hahaaa[p]hobbs, do you want to smoke or grill the trout? or are you eating it right now? which ever way, use evoo and it won't stick to the grid.[p]here's one i grilled on the gasser last summer before i got the egg.[p]with a little practice, you can pull the entire bone assembly at once.
[p]i've been known to eat right off the grill. is that wrong?

Hobbs,
i forgot this part... keep you special lady friend happy by removing the head and even removing the meat for her if you have to. unless of course she likes peanut better really, really, well.
