Table Ideas for Multiple Eggs/Ceramic Cookers

I've struggled with deciding exactly how I want to set up my grills for a while. The cypress table I built years ago got weathered, and eaten by 2 lab puppies. So, it has retired. Right now, I have my Large Egg in a nest on my deck and my KJ Jr. in the stand on top of a small cypress table. We are having our entire deck rebuilt, larger, and a roof built over the part that's currently uncovered. So, the entire thing will be a big covered porch, about 16x32. I'm trying to decide how to arrange my 2 grills, and I can't decide the best method. I can either build a nice table out of Ipe or Cypress that will house both the Large Egg and the KJ Jr, or I can have both of them in nests with a table built in the middle for storage and food prep. I have read somewhere that a KJ Jr in the stand will fit perfectly in an Egg Nest.
If both of them are housed in one table, it'll be pretty heavy, but will still be movable with caster wheels. I'd also, most likely, leave one end open, so the Jr. could be taken out to the pool occasionally. If I have each in nests with a table in the middle, it might not be as nice looking, but they would be much easier to move around, if I ever wanted to do so.
For those with multiple ceramic grills, what have you found to be the best setup? There are pros and cons to each. One thing I know I want this time around is several enclosed cabinets for proper storage. Between plate setters, a spider, an adjustable rig combo, several grates, a mapp torch, and charcoal, I want somewhere to hide all my accessories that will stay neat and dry. I currently have a large deck box, but it's huge, and stuff just gets thrown on top of other stuff, and it's impossible to keep organized in any way. Anyway, just thought I could learn from others who have made decisions with multiple eggs, and either loved their setup, or wished it was different after the fact. Thanks for any advice, ideas, or pictures of your setup.

Why not take a stroll thru this site - there are many ideas here and surely you'll find something(s) for ideas.

I will give you my input based upon my experience. I bought my first egg and had a custom table built to fit my deck and it was awesome. Of course every little spill, spark, etc. caused me to get upset.
Then, after I moved, I got a nest. I love it! I don't have to worry. I wheel it out and wheel it in and don't worry about catching a table on fire or how the grease stains won't ever clean up.
I recommend a nest.Clinton, Iowa -
I'm not much help but I roll my eggs out from the garage to the driveway. I personally wouldn't want to roll around one big cart. I personally like being able to roll around the eggs individually. By the time you put two grills in one table you're going to lose out on a bunch of prep space. I'd go with some type of storable/table on wheels between a couple nests. Just my 2 cents."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

I might be leaning this way. But, it's going on a covered deck. It'll never be moved, and if I had 2 grills in it, it would be a large table. Probably one grill on each end with 5-6 ft of prep space in the middle.WeberWho said:I'm not much help but I roll my eggs out from the garage to the driveway. the main thing I need is storage. I can't just put things on shelves, because my dogs will lick the dirty grates and stones, and that's gross. I want it stored away in cabinets so it's completely out of the way and clean looking.

I would approach it differently. If its a super nice new built covered deck. I would think, sound maybe outside speakers, outlets for rotisserie etc, lighting and the overall wow factor. Instead of wood look at solid surface, granite or stone top. Cabinet doors or stainless steel doors into wood so the dogs dont have access. Stainless steel door kits are bot that expensive. Add a s.s. drawer to hold the charcoal. Think like a pantry kitchen maybe a set of stacked cabinets beside everything or even diamond steel corners covers ref pets. Because you have it covered you can go upwards. Hanging shelf or cabinets overhead.Columbus, Ohio

Agreed. I already have 3 fans, extra outlets and lighting figured in. As for speakers, I already had that, and didn't like it. I have several bluetooth portable speakers that work great. We use them at the pool, around the house, everywhere.jdMyers said:I would approach it differently. If its a super nice new built covered deck. Good ideas on the solid surface. That's a great idea. Either granite, or even a poured concrete top would look better, and last longer. I still can't decide if I leave the grills in nests, or incorporate them into the table, though. I almost want to just go with a nice table, with cabinets and drawers for storage and prep, and leave the grills in nests.Athens, GA

I've read where you can fit a KJ Jr in an Egg Nest. I've seen where the Jr in the stand will fit in a Large nest or the Jr, itself, will fit in a Small nest. Anyone with experience on which works best?Athens, GA

I have two Eggs and both are in their own homemade carts that I built. One has a granite top and the other a concrete top. I really like being able to roll one wherever I want and add a second one if needed. I am happy they arent in one table. I built a side table that doesnt move that houses a propane double burner. It has two doors and two drawers and plenty of counter/cutting board space. It houses my charcoal in plastic tubs and many acc. including a propane tank for the burner. I am cooking on Cool Deck a concrete surface used around pools. i am very happy with the mobility and my setup in general. I am always looking for ways to improve my carts though. I really like @Tspud1 rigs but they are more than I can spend to replace what currently works.

To answer @Mayberry and @RRog17 on the KJ jr in a nest, yes, it goes in a nest for a small egg. I tried the jr in its original nest, in the large, and didn't like the fit and finish as well as the small egg.

The small reggulator works really well on the KJ jr, too.
And my vote for the table is nests next to stainless tables. Not as pretty as others, but very functional and modular. I keep totes under the table for storage, and lowes buckets for lump and smoke wood. Again, not as pretty as many out there, but this is a very functional setup for me.

Perfect! Now I just have to find a Small Nest somewhere. May have to buy that new, as the small nests seem impossible to find.cookingdude555 said:Athens, GA

I had a counter built.

Not a fan of tables. Many times I have to rotate eggs to get out of wind, etc.. A table setup complicates that. All my eggs are in nests and I have a couple stainless tables that I can easily move~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

Got any mock up drawings or photos of the space? Ref nest vs built in. I had nest. Wind sprouted it and made the large egg airborne. Almost total destruction. Built in space has a nice finiahed look. Ref wind. I live on a large pond, where the wind lifted my egg and threw it, on the built in I have no wind problems with the cooks. Thanksgiving I did a brisket in solid pouring Gowd awful rain. It boils down to personal preference. My advice. Draw it out use what works for you. For me I chose the style and grace a conpleted unit with granite gave me over the grilling area over there and grills on wheels.
