I have a Pelican 60 and 20. The 60 is the original design. They are great coolers, but the downside is they are heavy unloaded.stlcharcoal said:Pelican Coolers.....also made in the US.
Lifetime warranty, grizzly certified, locking latches and solid handles vs. rubber & rope, plus built in-hasp, bottle opener, sloped floor, hose bib, etc.
Great company that has been around a long time making flashlights and other products decades before Yeti and all the others that have followed. Their cases are widely used by the military and industries. We used pelican cases for our night vision goggles when I was a pilot. Great coolers and everything else--never had a bad product from them.
Yeah, they're heavy, but they're not any heavier than Yeti's or some of the others. I've had some people in my store comment how their Yeti [#] is smaller and lighter than the Pelican (same#). Yeah, because Yeti's # doesn't signify the capacity.....a Yeti 35 holds 30 quarts, whereas a Pelican 35 holds 35 quarts--so that disparity in capacity equates to a smaller, lighter cooler.
Once you load these things up they're a nightmare to move anyway. That's why I now only have the wheeled Pelicans in my shop. They're more expensive and weigh more, but even just moving them around empty, it sure is safer for my back! -
@SonVolt
Yep, pretty sad. Their slogan is Overbuilt, not Overpriced. Well the latter part of that slogan is accurate.LBGE, 28” BS, Weber Kettle, HCI 7.8 SE Texas -
Good point about stated and actual capacity for Yeti vs Pelican. My wife thinks I'm weak when I ask her help to move when getting ready for camping. Where is your shop?stlcharcoal said:RyanStl said:

I got a Rtic soft side cooler for my birthday and broke the zipper pull the third time i used it. I got a Yeti soft side cooler for Christmas and it said something like "pull hard" on the zipper.

Sorry, public forum. Like many others before you, you'll have to make the trek to find thebbqspeakeasy......its location is a tightly held secret amongst St. Louis's BBQ elite. When your perseverance has been recognized, it will present itself to you. Hope to see you there one day!
