Just had a good cold weather feast. Roasted Bronto Ribs with Roasted Rutabaga. Very rustic. I’m thinking if I hadn’t had that bourbon after dinner, I’d be fortified to plow a frozen field, by hand, uphill both ways.

Good eats, for sure.I don’t think I’ve ever eaten rutabaga. How do you cook it? Anything to compare its flavor/taste to?#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

It's a very firm root vegetable that shares qualities of turnips and potatoes, including flavor. Long slow cooks make them sweet. Cubed and roasted is my favorite. I kept dipping the big chunks above in the rib drippings while they cooked. You can boil them too. They are a very rustic tasting vegetable and they go well with beef and pork. Dice them up them up small with potatoes and onions for the finest hash browns you've ever eaten.caliking said:Good eats, for sure.I don’t think I’ve ever eaten rutabaga. How do you cook it? Like beets, I guess? I've got some beef on the cards for Christmas, so I'll plan for some rutabaga on the side.Teefus said:

Like to pressure cook ours with a nice pot of spicy greens with a couple butt ribs. Good food for sure.Teefus said:
