Kickash can

Anyone using the Kickash can with their KAB? Kinda wondering if this rig would reflect the heat back up and maybe cause less cracked bases. I just got my new base and put the cast iron grate below the KAB but man it’s ssssslowed startup time something fierce.

  • I love the can.  Clean up is less than a minute.

  • I use the can and love it I have forgotten how to use the ash tool. I never thought about it reflecting heat, maybe some.

Who said the basket caused cracks in the first place?

I use the Kickash can and love it. So much easier to clean out the ashes. My KAB disintegrated after a year and a half so I went back to original grate. My fire ring is in two pieces but currently working fine. I don't think the Kickash can has anything to do with cracked ceramics.

I use the can with the basket.  It's really nice if you have an egg table, in particular. (less ash coming out the front port when you clean and getting on the wherever the egg is resting).

You still have to clean out the "throat" every 2-3 times you empty it, but for quick pre-cook cleans it's awesome.

I have had both the basket and can for quite a while and just leave them in all the time. I don't take them out for high heat cooks.  It's just a solid solution all around.
