A5 Wagyu Oh My!!!

Last week we were at our Costco and they had some A5 Wagyu Ribeyes out @ $99.99/LB. I asked my wife, who would be crazy enough to buy those? Well today is our 51st Anniversary and we were there again. She said, "why don't you get a package as my present to you", she knew they are on my bucket list. I looked at and touched all 22 packages they had and grabbed this one. Although the marbling was similar on most of them, check the spinalis out on these babies. My wife's a keeper for sure.

Wow. In Japan this would be served with wasabi, (and a few sauce choices for dipping) you need something to cut the oil. I’ve even had it served with a slice of lemon. I’d also recommend a very dry saki, or very dry red wine. That’s so much! I’ve only had about 6 ounces or so before, it’s as filling as it looks. This makes me miss travel very very much.Good for you lucky man!+++++++++++++++++++++++++++Austin, Texas. Glad to see you posting again. Congrats on the 51!
I can only hope to find those locally.
Time to bring it home. Dang-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
Have you any other suggestions for dipping sauces?sumoconnell said:

Nice! I went to my Costco yesterday, but no such luck here. You are lucky in more ways than 1! Congrats on the anniversary.
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

If I bought those, it would be the end of my bucket list!Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

I’ve had soy diluted in rice wine vinegar, a spicy chili paste, and actually a good dry salt. Plain salt is really good. Here’s another visit..

Agreed... I did one not too long ago and one steak was enough to serve 4 as an appetizer. I don’t think that I could eat one just by myself.dmchicago said:Don’t cook both of them. You might not even finish one.Super rich!____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli -

If your local Costco doesn't have them check their website. They sell a variety of expensive meats online.Ozzie_Isaac said:

Haha! You are too kind for pointing that out. I can sneak ~$150 into the food budget, but $2500 and I will be sleeping outside for a month.HeavyG said:

I've seen them on the web site before, but wouldn't want them doing the picking. I liked rummaging through all the packages to get the ones with the best spinalis.HeavyG said:

I think the complexus is overlooked. It's only in roughly half the ribeyes so I always wait till my butcher has the ones out that have a big piece of it.
