Reggulator not staying on well on my XL

I’ve got a 10 yr old +/- XL egg that I bought a Reggulator vent cap for. The Reggulator doesn’t sit tight on the egg flue causing it to tilt and not sit flush. It has fallen off completely 3 times when I have lifted the grill lid, breaking the rain cover stem twice. Most recently tonight it fell off breaking the stem on my rain cover for the second time. I like the Reggulator much more than the old daisy wheel but am fed up with it falling off and/or tilting every time I lift the lid.

Any suggestions on how to make it fit tighter? Could I use the seal kit material on the flue for a tighter fit? Thanks for the help!

I assume by “seal kit” you mean a gasket, and yes, use one.

Yes, but a rather expensive way to solve the problem...akin to swatting a fly with a shovel. Send me a PM for a cheaper $2 solution.

My new XL egg, I'm pretty sure has a gasket around the chimney.

Here is what I did, I added it to the top, and the neck of the chimney. This was 3 years ago, it is dirtier now, but otherwise exactly the same. Its a piece of nomex gasket left over from putting a gasket on my mini. I glued it using permatex copper. Reggulator came later, but functions perfectly on this setup.
