I use mine for everything. I cook for two and it is my go to egg unless I’m stir frying then the large gets called upon. The mini reacts to vent settings differently than its big brothers but it is easily learned.Try the search - “mini -re” and do some reading. All kinds of info.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

I would definitely buy it.
-
Thanks guys. I told him I’d buy it. I’ll grab it Monday and update with pics

Do yourself a favor and type in "Magic Mini Moments" on YouTube"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

You'll love it!

I had one and sold it because it was "too small". I have regretted it ever since.-Jody Newell (LBGE & a 36" Blackstone griddle).

Thanks guys. How about smoking with it? Is ok for smoking a small pork shoulder or a tenderloin? Or should we keep it more to grilling
-
I keep mine for grilling. You can do smoking and I’ve seen people do it, but it’s capacity and duration are limited. Mine is just a grilling microwave.

-
I smoked a turkey in one a few years ago

I’ve done small butts on mine. Also have done short ribs with lump leftover

I also recommend a second fire ring from big green egg. I use one in both of my minis to raise the grid. Only $37 from BGE:

Please keep those pictures comin! Looks great I can’t wait for it

Is that pork tenderloin? From the pic it looks like the lump is into the second ring and direct. What’s the advantage versus a load of lump in the fire bowl since it is a direct and quick cook?cookingdude555 said:I also recommend a second fire ring from big green egg. Those are strips of tri tip. The pic may be deceiving, but its actually only in the firebox. And its actually kingsford natural briqs on this cook. This allowed like 6 inches between fire and protein.Mattman3969 said:

Sorry for the confusion on the protein and the heat source. In the end game I’m just trying to wrap my head around the need for the extra ring. Do you cook indirect at that level too?-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.
-
No worries. No real need for it. I just like cooking raised direct, it changes the cook. I don’t cook indirect in the mini much. But I do have the plate setter for when I do.Mattman3969 said:Sorry for the confusion on the protein and the heat source. I was contemplating it but I found it to be a little small in person for my family of 4 so i
bought a minimax and its perfect. If it’s just 2 people a mini would probably be fine for a couple burgers or chicken breast. At half retail id probably take it. Especially if you are good friends with the guy maybe he could do warranty claims for you if you ever needed itRockwall, Tx LBGE, Minimax, 22" Blackstone, Pizza Party Bollore. Cast Iron Hoarder.

Yeah I think the mini is less practical than the mini max. And in all honesty, the small is the most useful (this is just my opinion as an owner of all three). However, of the three, I think the mini is the coolest to monkey around with. I have one on my desk at work, good conversation starter. I do a lot of teams meetings and it is behind me on a mini fridge. People are always wondering what the green urn is behind me. I've had a few people in all seriousness ask if I had a relative in there.TEXASBGE2018 said:I was contemplating it but I found it to be a little small in person for my family of 4 so i

You posted links from youtube, but the href link is pointing to sites on facebook instead of youtube. I copied them into notepad, and then copied them again out to strip the invalid tag. Try these instead:Mickey said:Not sure what went wrong with the above but all lost?... -
Yea that’s a bummer. No links working. Thank you though! I can’t wait to get this little guy

The Mini, pound for pound, is best. While it is geared for 1 or 2 people, it can do more if in a pinch; just have to cook in batches. It is the most mobile Egg. It can do a small pork butt, 4 burgers, 6-8 sausages, 2 chops, or 2 steaks. It heats up fast and is a lump miser. Anyone looking to add to a L or XL for cooking side dishes should consider the Mini. Cooked a 2 pound Meatloaf tonight, baked potatoes, and asparagus.
-
@Mikee that’s awesome you recommend it for a side kick to an xl because that’s what I have
