My second time using the EGG was an epic fail and I think I screwed up the gasket

I did great with a long pork butt cook last week and tried pizzas tonight. I’m not sure if it was the dough that was too soft and sticky or having my family put on way too much of everything, but I could barely get it into the peel in one piece and couldn’t get it off onto the stone.
some toppings and sauce looked to have dropped onto the gasket that I didn’t see and when I lifted the dome a little later (we put the pizzas in the regular oven) it was sticking. When I got it opened it looked like about 4 areas where the gasket was separating and sticking up and looks to have separated a bit. I love this think and can’t believe I may have just ruined it on time two. Here are some pics. How bad is it and what do I do? Do I need to replace it and is it something a novice can do?

You did not ruin it. If the gasket is peeling, take the opportunity to replace it with a Rutland @RRP can help you with. There are a few folks here that run with no gasket. Keep at it and enjoy the journey.Las Vegas, NV

I wouldn’t replace it just yet - do more cooks, it’ll likely settle down. No doubt it still seals when closed. We’ve all had our failures.Maryland, 1 LBGE

We all have different sensibilities about these things, but I wouldn't worry about it. Egg on!Stillwater, MN

It looks fine to me, wish mine was in such good shape. Does not look like it would leak.
As for sticky pizza, I would recommend parchment paper, only takes a few minutes on the egg then you can pull it off.

That’s a great idea!EggNorth said:It looks fine to me, wish mine was in such good shape. Does not look like it would leak.

I gave up doing pizza on my egg. Too many failures.

Relax, learn from it and move on. We've all made mistakes. The gasket will be fine. Have fun and enjoy the experience.

Gasket is fine, don’t worry about it. Let the gasket wear down for years as many here have done before. I personally don’t see a need for the Rutland route but others will argue otherwise.

Remove as much as you can without tearing down the gasket and you will be fine!____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli

I saw on the website it mentioned a high heat adhesive if it becomes separated so even though it is the gasket coming apart form itself - not the egg - I may pick up some of that and try to glue it back together so that It’s flat. May be a nice compromise.
