First steak grill Sunday

Going to try some steaks on the BGE Sunday. I haven't grilled wiyth it yet

1. Can I simply light the coals in a chimney like with any other grill and then dump them on some unlit ones with wood chunks in it?

2. The rack goes above the fire ring like with smoking?

Simple questions but want it to turn out right (and save face w/the better half)

    Yes and yes. But depending on the steaks, you can forgo the grate and cook directly on the coals if you want.
