RIP firebox

I have a large and a mini max. I pulled out the firebox on the mini max and knocking the ash off and it broke into two pieces, then obviously hit the ground and is in more pieces. Is this warranty thing? Or my fault too bad? Do I have to go through my dealer? I bought the mini max from an eggfest brand new at an eggfest about four years ago so I don’t really have a dealer

    Sorry to hear that. If the dealer that hosted the eggfest is still in business, can you contact them for proof of purchase? Non-accidental breakage should be covered by lifetime warranty but your situation is kind of complicated.  Assuming you still have all the broken pieces, compare closely what you think was the 'original' crack vs. the new cracks. The original normal usage crack often shows discolouration near the inside edge due to charcoal dust seepage, if you can demonstrate that then your warranty claim should be valid. Subsequent dropping is not your fault. Good luck!

    edit: how exactly were you 'knocking the ash off'? I assume it was gentle tapping. I use a brush to clean my firebox and fire ring.

    edit2: if warranty is denied, try requesting a compassion warranty for 50% discount.

    Sucks it broke. My guess is a MM replacement firebox is not terribly expensive.

    Yeah in hindsight I could've made a better choice. I had welding gloves on and held it in one hand and was using my other hand to slap the ash off. I guess I did it too hard or it could've already had some sort of crack. Who knows.

    I'll see what I come up with. Thanks for the info.

    Update in case anyone cares.

    I got the mini max from an eggfest about 2.5 hours from where I live so I don't have a specific dealer. I'm in north Florida and they built a new Ace right near my work. I went at lunch yesterday and they were super helpful. They took my information and I sent them pictures and he told me it gets passed to some store in Palm Coast then they pass it BGE, then it will funnel back down to me. We'll see what happens. Very easy process and great customer service from Ace.
