Hi @chrisuk. I still use Green Olive - I actually bought a crazy amount last year and stored in my shed. I think I have enough to last me to next year.

They have a sale once or twice a year that makes it worthwhile - need to get on their mailing list though. You just missed 40% off in April!

Ha ha. Just my luck. They have stock today so I’ve bought the six bag bundle and a selection of chips. Will give it a go as much cheaper that £45/bag from BGE

I’ve been using the pre bagged easy light charcoal for the last week since I’ve had the egg however using the branded BGE charcoal later to cook a beer can chicken. I’m using the same recipe as I did on my first cook with the egg so will be interesting to see how it goes.

Hi all. Been a while since your posts however as another (albeit newbie), UK egg user who are you all using now for charcoal?
I was using EBay - 'ever burning charcoal' but they are closed at the moment.   I have seen 15kg bags of Big K (Restaurant grade) around £28 on Ebay

But you know, it's by your side I will stay

I still like the Alderline, burns clean as soon as it's lit and no bad smoke taste. Go Outdoors stock it online now.

I’m a snob but I tried easy light charcoal once when I first got my egg and didn’t have anything else  - the type that comes in its own flammable bag - and it tastes horrid. For some reason the egg really infuses your food with your coal, so bad coal = bad taste. It’s why I only go for posh stuff now!

Just gone back on to check.   That will now cost you £47,  or £5 more for Saturday delivery.

Last Summer I got 25kgs (EBC on Ebay) delivered for about £50.

There's a local supplier offering £10 per 6kgs bag.  Prices unchanged from last Summer.   It's low density so lights up quickly with a few pops and crackles, but the bx needs filling more often as a consequence.
