  • Hadn’t actually considered that, but good tip.

Could come in handy when I am supposed to take chips to a gathering but accidentally opened the bag before some chips fall into my mouth. Problem solved. No one will be the wiser.

We use ours for chips all the time.  We have a newer foodsaver 4800.  You can stop the vacuum at anytime and it’ll start auto sealing.  Most other models probably work the same, but I don’t have experience with any of them.

We also use it on some fresh whole coffee bean bags.  All bags don’t work well.

We actually reseal a lot of packages with the vac sealer, including cereal. I don't know if it makes the cereal stay fresh any longer, given no vacuum is pulled, but it does keep the bags closed.

I never thought of doing that but will have to give it a try now.
    Nice suggestion thanks.

I would have sworn I had tried that before, unsuccessfully. Just tried it with a mostly empty bag of chips and not only did it seal, but it sucked the air out too! Looks like the seal could be better, but it beats my usual clothes pin. Thanks!

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Some bags re-seal better than others.

Yep. Just checked the foil bag and it looks sealed, but...
