Lid stuck

So awhile back i posted about needing new bands for my large egg....  since i had to replace the bands i figured I might as well just put new gasket material on since it was pretty well shot.  Went out this morning and the lid is stuck(froze) shut again for second time since replacing gasket...  never had this happen until I changed these few things...  first time it was froze with the egg covered and i had to start a small fire in bottom of egg thru vent hole to unfreeze.  This time the egg has been uncovered... neither way seems to solve the problem.  Will a few hot burns help the gasket from retaining so much water?  I have done a few low n slows to help cure the gasket material.

The gasket will eventually get soaked with fat and it will get better

I didnt have any fire starters handy since i have a looflighter.  I had it stuck in from top at first then in the bottom vent hole but i guess it was to much ceramic to heat so i used it to start a fire in the bottom.  After about an hr it finally released.  Maybe I need to purchase some of those starters to remedy this issue or buy a small torch.

this has happened to me many times. after a cook, wait for the grill to cool, then put a spacer in the lid to keep it open. that's the only solution I have found.

When shutting down I will put strips of AF along the great majority of gasket surface.  Shut the dome-good to go the next time.  FWIW-
