Trouble with the Joetessiere

after seeing this post: https://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1223152/old-medium-new-fire-ring-and-firebox-would-not-fit#latest, I was wondering since I have a Large BGE purchased in 2008 and the Joetessiere I purchased late last year. I have a tight fit w/o the joe-ring. if the Large had a design change like the medium mentioned in the above post.

Your lower band is too low.  I like to have it just below the felt.  This allows you to "choke up" on the dome with the band, keeping it from looking like it is is going to let go of the dome when you open it.  What is the metal piece below the handle?  I dont have that on my eggs.  Also, what is the tight fit, the fire ring, box, etc...

I am guessing it holds a grill light :)

Or maybe a good place for a remote thermometer with a magnetic back.

The Large and medium now have newer bands......the springs on the sides like the XL rather than centered on the back like you have.  That's the only change in the large.

But, yeah, bring that lower band up and it should be better.

Yes, that bracket holds a grill light
