ODK lighting upgrade...

Morning All:

It was finally time to upgrade the lighting in the outdoor kitchen...when I had it built in 2007 I found some lights that worked real well for "spot-lighting" the Egg cooking surface...this shows the lights (one near each large Egg & one near the sink)…

Unfortunately those lights didn't stand up too well to the Florida environment, though they did last 8 to 10 years...I then put up some solar powered "movement" lights that were okay, but not much light at the grill surface...I was having some other electrical work done & yesterday had a nice spotlight installed near the sink, but plenty bright for the Eggs too...here it is last night after dark...

This should last for quite a while (had the electrician remove the old lights too).

Have a GREAT day!

    Hey Jay
Do the new flood lights generate any heat?

    Morning @loco_engr & @nolaegghead

So far I haven't noticed any heat (but I'm in Florida so its going to be warm to hot out there :)  ) & yes the lights are LED.

    Have a GREAT day!

Nice. With that setup I don't know if I would ever cook inside the house again.

Not to be a "lighting nerd" but where those spots/ floods are positioned you could be blocking the direct light to the eggs when you stand in front and open them.  Cant really tell from the pic very well but something to consider.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.

You really need the eggs to be elevated OFF the concrete blocks. I can't tell, but your recent pic looks like they are flat on the blocks.

    Morning @xfire_ATX

So far it hasn't been an issue as I have stood just slightly to the left...granted if I'm using both Eggs then I could block a little light to the left Egg, but it is so bright out there compared to before that it really isn't a problem.

    Have a GREAT day!

    Morning @speed51133

Both Eggs are sitting on the little "feet" that used to come with a BGE & have been there since 2007 with no problems (I did check under the pavers a couple years ago & no issue).

    Have a GREAT day!
