Table build question?

What diameter do I need to cut out of the top to sit my egg comfortably?
How tall should I make the spacing be from the bottom of the egg to the top of the counter. Will be using the feet to pick up from surface

Adjust the distance B from what is in those plans. See Note 3. You really should add an air gap between the egg and the concrete. Adjust distance B to account for the air gap.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
ive burnt a hole through a 2 inch thick wooden table while using just the feet. use a paver over the wood and the feet, or 3 quarters etc. paver and a space
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
The BGE feet give 3/4" and a table nest 1 1/2". Paver and air gap is good. Even better is fire brick and air gap.

Mine are 17" from bottom shelf to table top with a small platform under the egg. If you put a notch in back for hinge to drop down into, you can get the egg to sit lower in table. See egg on right

Notch in back of cut out

-
But you’re screwed if you swap to the new bands.
-
Not sure what new bands do but if hinge doesn't drop down, it shouldn't effect the height of egg.
-
Circumference of Egg at table height divided by 3.14 = Hole size without air gap size.

I haven’t posted in a while - been crazy at work, but saw this pic. Here is a pic of the back side of this same table for reference. And thanks @Tspud1. It’s been a joy to own.Tspud1 said:Mine are 17" from bottom shelf to table top with a small platform under the egg. Thanks guys. Appreciate having somewhere to start from.
Going to start the build when I re-do my back deck -
What material will your top be made from? Also, what size egg?DuckDogDr said:Thanks guys. Appreciate having somewhere to start from.

Keep in mind the thickness of that top when measuring from bottom shelf to top. I had to adjust the platform under this on due to that extra height
. We put a 21.5" hole in our tops for the large eggs. That gives room on each side of egg.

i just made up my mind to go through DIYBBQ.COM and buy all pre-assembled steel stud modules. I was going to do concrete blocks.XL BGE and Kamado Joe Jr.

For a large egg with the table nest you want 3” closer to the table top than what I show here for the joe table I recently built.I recorded a video showing the process and including making the concrete counter top if you want, here is the link https://youtu.be/l-XuZaG5-ag
