Shiny Grate

My wife and I were watching a utube vid and the guy just brushed his grate and it was mostly black. She asked if he was going to put food on that. I told her that most people don't SOS them like I do after each use to keep them shiny clean. I don't much care for the effort it takes, but I like the results. Anybody know of a better way to get the same shiny clean results with less effort? Before you jump in to tell me just to heat and brush it or something else about how I don't need a shiny clean grate, I appreciate your opinion, but I gotta do me.

Less effort? Use a new grid each time! 😀 a bit pricy though!Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -

A cordless drill and a wire brush attachment would probably work faster.
Then there's always oven cleaner.
Both have their drawbacks. -
I get what you are saying. My CI pans are shiny clean, but they require some hot water, scrubbing, lightly oiled, wiped completely off, followed by drying on the stove top. Don't know any easier way with the Grid. My CI Grate doesn't get that kind of attention...Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX. 2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey. Above all, have fun.

Just heat and brush it, you don’t need a shiny clean grate! 🤷♂️
Easy off in a garbage bag I guess...____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli -
Back when I used an electric water smoker, I took the plastic lid from a Rubbermaid garbage can, set it on the cement next to the smoker upside-down, and poured half a pail of hot water and a glug of white vinegar into it. Once I took the cook into the kitchen, I dropped the grate(s) into the lid (they fit perfectly and was just deep enough to cover two grates).
Usually didn't scrub them until the next day, does require some scrubbing but much easier than any other method I'd tried."Dumplings are just noodles that have already eaten" - Jon Kung
