Joetissarie with a half stone?

I came across this picture on another forum of someone using a half stone with the Joetissarie. They set the rotation direction so the grease rolls off on the stone side. This seems like a really good idea. My Joetissarie is arriving today and I was wondering if anyone else has tried this?

I just let it hit the fire

Helps with the taste imo

Thanks! Wouldn’t the half stone be the same as moving coals to one side of the fire box?Hilton Head, SC- XL Big Green Egg w/Modular Nest

I just use a small foil pan upside down bent to fit, and put lump on both sides. keeps flair off meat. Wouldnt want to clean half moon for nothing, and the rotation speed of 1/2 snail there isnt any fling off

too all the photos above, I will add I learned the hard way cooking this rib roast. YOU SHOULD use butchers twine and tie up any roast or chicken. As it cooks it can pull apart. pain in the butt I will say. Tuff lesson learned.

I have used a 1/2 stone a few times, I can't remember why, but it did work just fine!Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX. 2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

I ended up getting these little Mini Loaf Pans at the grocery store for $2. They catch the drippings and keep the charcoal to one side. I did not use a half moon deflector. Hilton Head, SC- XL Big Green Egg w/Modular Nest -
For all you Joetissarie owners who are looking for some way to store this thing, as a drummer I found a solution. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EENI1K?pf_rd_p=ab873d20-a0ca-439b-ac45-cd78f07a84d8&pf_rd_r=HW2EDNPD9F77497S8SVC

@drumdudeguy Thank you for sharing! Be careful, one of the tabs that holds the motor broke off on mine. JB Weld did not work, ended up having a local welder fix it.Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX. 2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

tab broke on mine as well. I contacted them, they replaced it with out hesitation.

@jdMyers I contacted them, they were less than responsive...Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX. 2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

Tie that thing for sure, parts that don't look loose get loose. I just go over the coals, no matter what you do the ceramic will get hot enough to smolder the juices even if you don't have fire directly under it. No need to over think it, they work well and are a great change of pace from just direct or indirect cooking.

that pan has a non stick coating which you are probably vaporizing and eating. that crap is nasty stuff.drumdudeguy said:
