RRP, allow me to rephrase the question, what chips do you guys prefer to use with burgers?

my egg has never seen burgers, but i use maple chips to smoke sausage fatties. i would guess hickory would be good with burgers. so would cherry or apple.[p]burgers would be good with just the lump. just put some dizzy pig on there!

Zee,[p]I did burgers this weekend on the mini. I threw in a small amount of hickory chips and a little bit of mesquite. That is just my preference.

I like using the Jack Daniels wood Chips.

I use hickory or pecan. I only cook burgers direct around 375 turning twice. Always smokey, juicy and a great smoke ring. Have to be careful on getting too much smoke on burgers because of grease dripping on lump while cooking.
Never had any complaints about them. PopsicleWillis Tx.
