New Band system and regulator

Today I replaced my worn bands with the new system for my large.  Picked up the new regulator cap while I was there.  I was having fits with dome alignment with the old bands, it just would not stay in line.  Local dealer recommended the new system and says It should help with that problem.  I have it on took about an hour to complete.  It passed the dollar bill test all but a couple places where the drag was not quite as tight but it was best I could do.  Is there anything I should be concerned about with that little bit of slack? I know it needs to seal good.  Any advice on keeping it aligned and has any of you guys experienced alignment issues after the new bands?  Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

  • Egg on! The new bands should take care of your alignment issues. If you are real picky get a gasket from @rrp to help seal you egg up better but honestly you should have no problems holding temps with what you described.

thanks! hind sight next time I think I will go that route with my next gasket.  This was my first time changing one after almost 5 years of weekly cooking. I will see how this gasket last and maybe upgrade sooner moving forward. as long as it holds temps steadily I will be super happy.

I was having some slight dome alignment issues.  It wasn't really an issue but it just bothered me.  I did some searching here and saw to close the dome and basically loosen everything on the back (bands, hinges, etc) and then get the dome to sit right.  Then retighten everything.  I did it a while back and it worked great.  I also just did again since I took the dome off when I replaced my gasket with a new rutland.

  • I was having alignment issues on my large and changed to the new bands about 2 years ago and haven't had any issues since and have never adjusted them either.  Much better design.
