Turkey Roasting Pan for a Large BGE
Medium-Rare
Posts: 72
We recently relocated and my wife has to make do with a single oven for Thanksgiving. Now is my chance to do a turkey using the Mad Max Method on a large BGE. Need suggestions on a brand and model of a roasting pan that will fit properly. I searched but there was a lot of foil suggestions and discussions on using a vertical turkey roaster. I just want to do a traditional cooked turkey in a roasting pan on the Egg.
Suggestions on a roasting pan would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry. No help here.I did the mad max method once. While it turned out great, I now always go spatchcocked and raised direct at 375-400F with great results which I would not want to change. Not to mention, a bit easier too.--------------------------------------------------

I know this is not what you are asking but this fits great in the LGBE as a drip pan..Fits just perfectly on the plate setter legs up.. Dollar store.

That's what I use. Double up if you want to use conventionally.johnmitchell said:I know this is not what you are asking but this fits great in the LGBE as a drip pan..Fits just perfectly on the plate setter legs up.. Dollar store.

I use my Lodge Dutch oven for my Mad Max turkey. Works great every year.

Not sure of the brand, but I have a very normal sized green thin metal roasting pan 16" long

I do the mad max turkey every year with that pan. The picture is from last weekend when we hosted a Friendsgiving. It was a 14lb bird.

Not the cheapest, but this one has been perfect. Fits exactly on top of the large plate setter and holds a 20lb bird no problem. It’s been my go to for the last few years and we’ll be in use again this weekend for Friendsgiving. It can also take direct heat, which is critical if you’re gonna do Mad Max’s gravy.
