I use a Meater.Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.

I thought of using a meater but I have seen many negative reviews. Also, I was hoping to have fan control. I do have a Meater on my wish list for checking internal temps.

Stop the rotisserie from time to time and stick a Thermapen in the meat. It's not that big a deal.
EDIT: I just realized you were asking about the pit probe. I clip mine to the dome thermo probe and run the cable out over one of the platesetter legs. Not affected by the rotisserie.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

If your just wanting to use the pit probe you could either hang it thru the chimney or clip it to the dome thermometer. I can’t see the need as most rotisserie cooks are relatively short cooks with higher heat which is crazy easy for the egg with no electronics involved.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Thanks for the suggestions. I was planning on cooking at 325 and I was not sure if the plate setter would fit when using the rotisserie. I also had read (not sure where) that going through the chimney was not good for the cable. Too high of exhaust temps formed at the chimney. The reason for the need for the fan control is I will be “out and about” during the two hour cook.

Why would you use the plate setter with the rotisserie? Isn't the point of the rotisserie to get direct heat?

Pull the thermo out and stick the probe in the hole, I do that on all CyberQ cooks.Jacksonville FL

- The rotisserie chicken turned out great. It took longer than expected to reach 165. I injected with Stubbs chicken marinade with an orange in the cavity and used Chicken Sh?t rub. I went through the cap with the probe and saw no issues. The next time I will try using the hole for the dial gauge. I will also need to rearrange the lump, I put lump on all four sides of a drip pan and found that I did not have a high enough concentration to maintain temperature for the five hours. Next time I will rotisserie at 350 instead of 325. Sorry, no pics had to keep an eye on the great grand daughter and she was a handful.

FWIW, the Meater gives you the pit temp as well as the IT. Just bought a Napoleon rotisserie basket, it's quite long and may need lump in each void between fire brick and firebox.

- I have found a the built in therm to be about 50 degrees hotter than temp on the grid. With the direct heat and constant movement I don't see the need for the precision temp that other cooks require. I only used my joetisserie a couple of times and had no trouble nailing the cook by adjusts for intake vents this way.

I now see my problem: I only added lump to the top of the drip pan and fire box. Your set up doubles the amount of lump that can be used. Thanks.Canugghead said:

If it's a alligator style probe, you can clamp it to the thermo in the dome.

When he did the probe wire fell close to the rotisserie, wrapped around it. Tore off. Had to replace the probe. (luckily didn't damage my FlameBoss).So, careful with the routing and keep an eye on your drunk party guests.
