wok ring or not ?

Do you have to have a wok ring to cook in a wok on the bge?
Or can you just place the wok directly on the bge?
I want to make sure that the fire can breath and not go out because i dont have a ring.

Dale,
I guess you could set it on the grid. A wok ring is the way to go though. Rings can be made to fit the wok being used.

what do u mean by "on the grid"
you mean on the cooking grate?
can i take off the grate and just sit the wok in the bge?
I wonder if the fire will be able to breath & stay hot?

Dale Benton,
Yes I meant the cooking grate. Obviously it will be cumbersome with a round bottom wok and a flat surface. I don't think removing the grate and putting it in the Egg would work without a wok ring.
