B&B lump

my local egg shop’s got some B&B lump for $17.99 a bag(20#). How is that stuff? I’m a diehard RW fan bout would be willing to try that B&B out on the kettle.

  • i just used my first BB bag of the yellow bag mesquite lump. Gotta say, I love it. Huge pieces. I did notice it crackled more than I am used to. It must not be totally pyrolized because it still imparted a smoke flavor.

Any lump made from mesquite should give more smokey flavor than almost any other lump.IMO

They also have oak if I'm not mistaken.

Haven't used it in years, but I do remember that the mesquite sparked a lot when lighting with a weed burner. More than any other brand I've tried.

  • I use the hickory and oak when I don't have any RW.   I like it.

My Walmart has the 20# bags for $12.44.  I just went thru a couple, and it does pop a lot, and is smoky.  Most pieces are large tree branches, and need to be broke down to usable size.  I actually think RO is better.

I have used it. I think it’s fine as long as you let it burn enough to get clean smoke. I like RO better and of course RW is the king...
