What if pizza question

Good day ladies and gents,
I have never done pizza on my BGE...I must confess. What if I took a frozen pizza and cooked it directly on the grill? Would I get something better than if done in the oven....or no difference? I know, I know, it's the slumming way to do things but for the moment it is all I can do.

The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

If it was a pizza that was meant to be cooked directly on the oven rack there might be an issue.
One supposed to be cooked on a pan would be ok. I don't know how much "better" it would be. I guess you could get a subtle smoke flavor from the Egg, but I wouldn't think there'd be much difference.
You should try it and let us know how it turned out...

In my opinion No. It will taste like crappy frozen pizza still. Its really fairly easy to do homemade pizza on the egg. You can get a store bought dough, a can of crushed tomato, a little olive oil and salt, and a block of fresh mozzarella that will blow away anything you can buy. I'm not the biggest fan of egged pizza to begin with as I think its not the best tool for that job. But that's just my opinion. There are plenty of folks on here that have made amazing looking pizza on the egg.Rockwall, Tx LBGE, Minimax, 22" Blackstone, Pizza Party Bollore. Cast Iron Hoarder.

You should try it and let us know how it turned out...
@Wpilon I usually takeem out the box and set them directly on the center rack in the oven and cook per the instructions. Just thinking about doing indirect at the prescribed temp and pie directly on the grill.

I've done this with no issue. I do have a CI grate, flat-side up. Nice to not heat up the kitchen in the summertime.

I don't think it would be any better, per say. But if you do it, I wouldn't cook it directly on the Egg, I'd cook it indirect at whatever temp the box says. I've never done it myself, but I have done a Pappa Murphy's pizza that way a long time ago.

Had some Pappa Murphy's at an eggfest. It was OK, but probably not worth cranking up the egg for any difference.
Cooking on the coast -
Id find a pizza joint that will sell you some dough , prepare yourself a pizza exactly how you want it and toss it on the egg. by the time the egg is up to temp you could have the prep work done
I do mine 600 degrees plate setter inverted, legs down, I have the small green "feet" that came with my egg use those on top of the plate setter and use a pizza stone on top2 LBGE
