Brisket for tacos - spice before or after?

I’m doing my first taco brisket later this week and was wondering do you guys put the spices on before smoking or mix in after shredding or both? Looking for a good taco rub recipe too.

I'm no expert, but I've always believed that seasoning at every stage of the cook is super important. Just go light and taste it, then add more if needed. Don't overdo it before tasting.
