Old hinge assembly will not fully open

Little help. My buddies lbge, when he was opening and closing it, it would essentially swing. I told him to tighten the band bolts. Well, he tightened all the bolts, now it won't fully open, much like the complaints about the new assembly. That aside, any ideas?

The DudeThis is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.

Walter SobchakNihilists! *uck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

  • The bolts that work  horizontally need to be relatively tight. The ones on the hinge assembly do not need to be fully cranked down. Consider easing those off a little bit to get some maneuverability.

That was my 1st go to, so I was right. We eased off the 8 bolts on the hinge and it didn't help. Pretty perplexed.

Try a little spray lube.  That fixed my small when it was doing the same thing

  • The only other option is check the bolts that hold the spring assembly. If that's too tight you'll have the same issue. If you remove the springs (while open) and the lid opens more (or you CANT remember the springs because they're on too tight even when lid is open) then that's the issue.
