OT - A question for our Navy posters - OT
Was gonna post this on the "What are you doing right now" but it could possibly turn political, so posting it here so it can be buffalo'd if necessary.
Tonight on the news they played an audio of the Iranians telling the crew of a British tanker, "Turn 360 degrees and follow us, and you won't be harmed" or something similar. Does that mean something different in Navy parlance? In the Air Force, 360 degrees is called a "loop" and results in you traveling the same direction.
Am I missing something here?

I am not navy but I have done surveying. 360 means proceed due North. 180 would be due South. Using azimuthal rather than bearings.

It is hard to understand the Iranian but he said something like "Alter your course to 360 degrees immediately, over.” Not do a 360, but rather turn to a 360 heading, at least that is how I understood it.
