Confit question (yes I know it’s a bit random)

hey folks
has anyone ever tried to confit on the egg ? Most recipes call for an oven but I am wondering if you can confit on the egg in duck fat, and whether the fat and the meat submerged will pick up wood smoke flavor in doing so ?
Thinking of doing pork belly in duck fat ....

Only one way to find out. Anything you can do in an oven, you can do in and Egg.

Of course you can. Be sure your vessel has walls well above where the fat will bubble and a catch/drip pan on your deflector. And a local fire extinguisher. Really, no reason you can’t. And I’d like an invitation.
