Fire brigade

 Got the egg going early this morning, lots of smoke. The next thing I know, some “kind“ neighbor yelled over the fence that he had  called the fire department. Great. I told him to call them back but two trucks arrived in less than a minute. Neighbor disappeared.  The guys were quite understanding, even a little amused. As they were leaving one turned to me and said, “We should come back in 14 hours then, right?“

    Next time invite the folks from the fire department over before you start up your Egg...

    They’re used to running BS calls, it’s just part of the job. We run more non fire calls than we run actual fires.

    I’m kicking myself for not asking what house they were from. I was thinking of taking them the leftovers instead of freezing them. I’m cooking an 8-pound butt for just me and my husband with plans of vac sealing the remainder. I might make some calls.
