Porter Road meat
You guys probably know all about Porter Road but I ordered some meat from them. Still pretty expensive but not like SRF. I ordered the teres majors and tri-tip. Both have been excellent. Just passing it on for anyone who may be interested.

Another interesting thing I noticed is it is not USDA graded. I have heard of other small places doing this. They opt to not pay for the USDA grading process to lower cost. Fine by me if the quality is there.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
The tri-tip was as advertised. I have never splurged for one from SRF so the only tri-tips I have to compare it to are ones I have previously bought at Costco / Sams, but these were better. More tender, better taste, etc.. Probably a little smaller but dang they were good.

This is so dumb, but I've never heard of this company, and when I saw the thread title, I really wasn't interested in reading it, because I don't care whether the "road meat" is by Porter or somebody else, I'm just not interested in ANYBODY's road meat! Sounds like "road kill," to me! Didn't occur to me that it might be "meat" by "Porter Road..." Now I notice the capitalization on "Road" but not "meat."

Seems I am even worse then because I also read that it was about "Road Meat" but that didnt put me off reading.
Used to work for the water board in north of Scotland, one of the few areas where its not uncommon to have a septic tank rather than being on mains sewers. Anyway, woman with an english accent phoned up, said she'd just moved in and wanted a starter kit for the tank. Our standard response was to say we can sell you one for $75 however you will get just a good as a result by throwing a bit of roadkill into the tank. To which she replied "absolutely not, I'm a vegan"... was tempting to point out we werent suggesting that she ate it (nor that she intentionally run something over)

Thanks?? for the lead to another on-line meat shopping site. I just spent several minutes in the site and spoke with them regarding the half brisket. Someone else can have the flat half...

I am in the middle of an email exchange with Porter Road regarding that half brisket offering. I will let all know the outcome-basically I am asking if I can specify the desired half and be assured that will be what is shipped, even if the order fulfillment needs to be delayed. Stay tuned-

Update from today: From Porter Road "... to my knowledge this hasn't been done before, so I hate to guarantee anything immediately. I'll speak with my operations manager when he's back in at the beginning of the week to see if this is something we could accommodate."

I missed that. Will have to keep checking. The pic looks good. Should be for $90.00. Can generally get prime at costco or sams for 3.25 a lb.
