Fix it. What exactly is wrong with it. And please don't just say it doesn't make ice.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Disregard my earlier question. I didn't read your comment. FWIW the problem sounds like a sensor and possibly your fill valve and maybe water quality issues. Regardless of what you have decided I would definitely look at making sure you have better quality water entering the machine to begin with.Eoin said:It's leaking as well, the ice tray was over filled, probably why it broke. Now water is coming out, slowly, and it's icing up inside. Ordered a new Samsung this morning, not bothered mending it as various plastic parts are broken as well.

Yep, hard water and/or particulates destroy the fill valve.NPHuskerFL said:

Hard water.
My main beef with fridges is the crappy plastics that always break, and this one has a good % of damaged plastics. It was 'free' when we did the kitchen 7 years ago, own brand from the kitchen company but actually made by Beko, home of the self lighting freezer. Can't be bothered to fix it and live with the broken stuff any longer.
Bought a stand mixer as well, so a good wallet hit today. -
The ice tray broke and fell into the hopper. I assumed it had just broken, but the ongoing leak made me look a bit harder. I'm used to fixing stuff, most of my appliances have been repaired at some point, but this was originally a cheap 'free with the kitchen' fridge that now has plenty of damaged plastics in it. I prefer to fix quality stuff that is worth fixing.NPHuskerFL said:Fix it. What exactly is wrong with it. And please don't just say it doesn't make ice. -

So... like I seem to do, I go kind of overboard on ice/water. First I use a more significant water purifier than the one built into the fridge. And get the cap for the fridge and quit using that filter completely.
I suggest an RO filter with a tank and that you do pre-filter exchanges semi annually and RO filter exchanges every 3 years. You want at least 40 PSI to properly feed the RO filter. You will get waste water that will need to be pushed to the drain.
That should leave you under 100ppm TDS (total dissolved solids). This will greatly extend the life of ice makers.
About ice makers. Stand alone units make better ice and don't pick up the aromatics of everything you put in your fridge. But they are expensive and take regular maintenance. Personally, i couldn't live without mine.XL, Small, Mini & Mini Max Green Egg, Shirley Fab Trailer, 6 gal and 2.5 gal Cajun Fryers, BlueStar 60" Range, 48" Lonestar Grillz Santa Maria, Alto Shaam 1200s, Gozney Dome, Gateway 55g Drum
