EggGenius Falling Offline Fix

Hey fellow Eggheads! I thought I would share some tech info on the EggGenius and hopefully save some of you a headache. I received the EggGenius for Christmas '18 and did a couple of cooks with it and it worked great. Fast forward to February '19 and I started to smoke a pork shoulder, the unit kept dropping offline, which was frustrating to say the least. I would unplug plug back in  and it would drop offline again. So long story short after I got off the phone with tech support a firmware update in early February broke the egg genius and a new firmware came out mid February to remedy this issue. Simply plug the egg genius back in and wait for the green light to go solid green, don't connect any probes, just plug the unit in and let it sit for approx. 45 min. It should obtain the new version of firmware. To be sure you have the right firmware version, simply go to myflameboss.com and enter your credentials you used to set up your account on your phone app. Click on profile and then choose settings and it will show the current firmware, which after the update should be 4.02.001. I hope this helps anyone struggling with keeping their unit online.

    Let’s hope not lol. I cooked a bird on my egg last thanksgiving but it was before I had my egggenius. Had to do it the old fashion way. Turned out great though

    AP Mode......connect to the "Flame Boss" wifi on your phone/tablet and it's linked to the app directly.  No internet or servers required.

    I showed a customer how to do it on a FB yesterday.....took about 90 seconds to setup and that included the time to download the app onto his phone.

    Thanks for the info. I like to to do low and slow while I’m at work, so being able to connect remotely is a plus but when I’m in a bind and am at home I will remember the tip

    If it drops offline while you're away, you'll get a notice from FB via an app notification or text to the tune of "lost connection with FB".  Then, the unit will continue on the same pit and ramp down setting you had on it.  Same goes if it loses power--when the power returns, it goes to it's last setting (hopefully it hasn't been too long......but you could always put a battery in the middle if that's a concern.)

    Great tip. Thanks for the info. Honestly never thought of that. Also I checked out your product. I like the idea of local hardwood charcoal. Free samples lol?

    You in STL?  We always have some ripped bags around the warehouse I let go for cheap if I don't need them at home.

    The warehouse and store is in Eureka.....out 44 by Six Flags.  Just hit me up when you're in town as we're not here all day, everyday.
