Maybe its a cultural thing. While I get offended now by the odor of charcoal lighter, most folks around me like, no, love the odor of BBQ smoke.

And like above, I've improved relations w. neighbors by offering them some PP or chix. If you are on speaking terms, try offering them some Egg'd food. Most people I know end up drooling over it.

I'm not sure I understand how a 300 year lease works, but then again, I'm not that smart.
A company or person owns the property and you buy the right to use it for a period of time. It might seem irrelevant for a 300 year period, but the owner of the freehold retains the asset value and gets an income stream from ground rent and (later on) selling lease extensions. One of the richest people in the UK is the Duke of Westminster. His wealth is the ownership of the freehold of some of the most expensive parts of London. The Aristos don't like to actually sell their land, just let other people use it for a while, but keep it in the family. The parallel wheeze is to put the property in a trust where the heir gets the benefits of being rich, but without the annoying inheritance tax. This requires expensive lawyers. The current Duke inherited £9 billion but paid practically no inheritance tax. The maintenance of family wealth is the primary consideration.
Seems very capitalistic, I like it.
Hopefully this doesn't go too off topic. No, its not capitalistic. Its aristocratic.

What I want to know is if it's *really* the fiber that induces the deuce or is it just all tired out from all the meat rods that have slid in and out of that deuce-hole for years on end?

sounds like you are new to this neighborhood,  maybe throw an open house party for all your neighbors, the egg will come up as a conversation piece. the egg only smokes badly during startup and let them know that, gasers can do the same thing and theres better chances of grease fires with gasers.  if this doesnt work theres always the GET OFF MY LAWN strategy =) thats last resorts though, i have a neighbor thats constantly on my lawn

After I got my egg and started cooking several times a week, I gave out food samples.  My property has the mailbox for 48 houses, and the egg was located about 30’ from that mailbox vault.
Eventually moved egg to backyard patio, but neighbors still ask “what’s cooking” when they get mail. Most love the smell of smoke and comment on it.

Throw a few handfuls of loofah seeds in her garden after the last frost and enjoy the assault that ensues.

We are newish to this property, previously lived 200 yards down the road but that place had a strict no BBQ rule and nothing to be left on the balcony unattended.

Irrespective of the egg it was something we'd considered doing but anecdotally there seems to be that the bottom and top floors know each other reasonably well but none of them seem to know anyone in the middle layer (the ones that were originally social housing) and it is one of these that had the problem.

Going off topic, historically leasehold was very much an aristocratic thing to do given ground rent could be less than a dollar a year and not all places charge service fees. There is a new breed though coming up which are more capitalistic. The previous flat had an annual service charge of £8,000 plus ground rent of £2,000 which doubles ever 15 years. The building owner also owned the service company so made profits from that too.

Overall there are lots of protections for basic issues, other than ground rent, but in many circumstances you can force the sale of the freehold to the leaseholders or takeover management of it if you get 50% of the leaseholders to agree and the costs arent massive. Our flat is worth around £600,000 and to buy the freehold would be around £12,500 plus solicitors fees (shared amongst all the flats)
