Got my table built for my medium egg. How big do I cut the hole?

Just remember, the Egg is tapered, so wider towards the top of the base.
Keep this in mind. Run a piece of non stretch string or cord around your base at the point you are targeting to be the same level as the table top. Divide this measurement by 3.14. This will be your diameter of your base at this point. Then add some extra for the gap amount you want between Egg and table. Maybe an extra inch. This will give you 1/2" gap around Egg. More or less depending on table top material. Also make allowance for your rear hinge.
    Thank you,

This picture might be hard on the eyes but, the tape measure shows the piece that was cut out of my granit top. That said, it was grinded and polished. Prolly knocked off a 1/4 inch in diameter in the process. Also, I have about a half inch between my egg and the cutout all the way around. Anyhow, mine was cut at approx 17 inches.

I would adjust your size based on your counter material. Looks to me like you can go 17 if a surface like concrete or granite. If wood, i would definitely error on the side of 18 inch. 17 1/2 might be the sweet spot.

Also take into consideration the additional height of the table nest and paver/tile that you should be using.
  • I cut a scrap piece of wood and put a nail through one end in the centre and had a hole large enough for a pencil on the other end to trace the circle to cut out with a jigsaw
