Where do you live that it is - 35? F or C doesn’t matter, that’s still very cold. As in cold enough to freeze your royal Rastafarian nay nays off.

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Believe it or not, these temperatures don’t stop me from barbecueing, but digging out the Eggs and prepping them is another matter.

Come on, let’s not hear any more whining. It’s a new day. Might have warmed up a couple degrees. 😎. A little drygas in the coffee this morning to prime the pump and get right after it. Otherwise we are gonna send over @fishlessman.Columbus, Ohio--A Gasser filled with Matchlight and an Ugly Drum.

C’mon man. I had a great expectations from you.

I recalled that you had a local connection but couldn’t remember what it was. We seem to get weather extremes - from sweltering, humid heat approaching 100F down to days like this.CTMike said:My sons in-laws live in Ottawa, we’ve been up to visit a few times. -
We don’t get that cold here in CT, but do get that hot at times.GrateEggspectations said:

It will probably be in the single digits (F) when I start up my BGE on Monday to cook dinner. I actually have more confidence in it getting up to temperature easier than the gas grill (sitting unloved these days). Plus I don't have to worry if the battery for the igniter is going to be too cold or not.
Granted I'm not talking about negative temperatures here (F since it's easier to get to negatives in C).I would imagine that as long as that snow fell when it was cold enough it would be fluff. You could probably clear it without too much effort. Unless it fell when it was closer to freezing and it's made of white lead. One of the things I do every snow fall here is clear a path, on my deck, from my door to the grill/BGE and where I keep the flavor wood. Easier to do it once the snow stops coming down than let it sit. My father used to do the same back in the 80's since he also grilled year round. I have no empathy for those that only grill/smoke [food] in the nicer months.Large BGE with CGS Woo Ring, stone with stainless pan, Smokeware chimney cap, Kick Ash basket and Kick Ash can.Living free in the 603 (Pelham). -
And I'm crying because it's 16F here in Chicago.... Good for you my man. let me ask you, do you ever see a difference in cooking with the cold weather? I don't but the coldest we get is -5FGrateEggspectations said:....until I saw that it is currently -35F outside.

In that weather how much does the temp drop on the egg when you open it to put food on or open it to check on food? Also, how long does it take to come back up to temp once opened?GrateEggspectations said:....until I saw that it is currently -35F outside.

4 degrees outside this morning lighting the offset. She was eating up splits all morning/afternoon. 10 racks of ribs and 40 sausages. I lit the BGE this afternoon for 42 drumsticks.
We are blessed for how easy and little work the BGE takes."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

@BGEChicago, @Kevinboatright:
Surprisingly, I haven’t really noticed any difference in operation in very cold temperatures. I would say that the only impact felt is by the cook - numb hands in short order mean you have to work fast! -
-
To add to the cold (-22F now), it’s now snowing quite heavily.

Good thing I have a backup winter beater Egg on the front porch! -

Pretty rough in Nashville this morning as well. Status report to follow."Brought to you by bourbon, bacon, and a series of questionable life decisions."

Dug out the eggs today, getting ready for a hot and fast brisket

It’s super cold here today also. Like 45F. Better go get my jacket. Might need to mow my grass too. I think I see a little green still.
