Any chance the egg cracks, or something like that, with the combination of heat and cold? Thank you.

No precautions for the Egg.
As for me, consumption of adult beverages helps numb the cold. -

If you have to keep the beverages in the cooler to prevent them from freezing, it might be too cold.

I cooked a 25 pound beef shoulder clod once, on a winter snow 4wd camping trip. We crashed at midnight and Large EGG was riding at 250. Woke up at 7:30 am hoping that the EGG was still rocking. It was. But it had gone down to 225. Do you have any idea what a beef shoulder clod smells like at the 8 hour mark in -15 F air? Lawdy, lawdy. I still have that same 1998 EGG. Been outside its entire life. No worries. Enjoy! Chris

Don't do this:
Seriously though, after cooking put a spacer to keep the lid slightly open, some people put aluminium foil on the gasket... whatever works for you. un sticking a frozen gasket sucks!!!Chicago, IL BGE XL BGE Mini Webber Charcoal / Elmhurst, IL -

I paid for my Xmas trips home from ISU to Sioux Falls by smuggling a couple cases of Coors (available in IA, not in SD, in the late 70's) and selling them to the locals. I forgot about the contraband one year, and it froze in my trunk overnight. Was able to convince a high schooler that "they'll thaw and they'll be perfect!", and still paid for the trip!
