How do you do dry ribs? I've always done the wet variety and want to try the dry ones. Anyone know or have experience?? [p]PS- I was flipping through channels the other day and could have sworn I saw a commercial with DR BBQ on it for a bbq commpetion. Does anyone have info on this?

Angie2B,[p]Dry ribs are ribs that have been dry-rubbed and cooked without sauce. The end product having a "dry" appearance. [p]Sounds like you saw an ad for the bbq show on the new network "Versus" formerly OLN. I think the show airs 10 pm on Sunday nights.... haven't seen it yet but have heard good things about it.[p]john

WooDoggies,
Do you repeat the rub application at anytime during the cook? And can I use any of the Dizzy pig rubs? or is it a different type of rub in some way?
-
Angie2B,
I use Regular Dizzy Dust. Some of the rubs, I personally would not use. Stay away from the Cowlick and rubs better served for beef.
I have never applied rub after the cook started. Rub down both sides of the rib.[p]Mike

Car Wash Mike,
Thank you.

Angie2B,
I do most of my ribs dry and serve sauce on the side for those who want it. After trying the dry ribs several of my family don't touch the sauce any more (BBQ sauce that is). I pull the membrane, coat with mustard, and then the rub. Any of the Dizzy Pigs rubs can be used. I haven't found one I didn't like. I usually use Dizzy Dust combined with one that had a little kick to it. Good eating , really lets the flavor of the meat come through!

Angie2B,[p]You can dust more rub on the ribs later in the cook if you want but if you dust a normal amount in the beginning, you probably won't need it. Go with your tastes, tho... if you like more rub, then by all means lay it on.[p]Dizzy Pig rubs are awesome on ribs.... Dizzy Dust, Raging River, Swamp Venom... I'm just about to put on 2 rack of spares with the new DP Shakin' the Tree.... can't wait for dinner.[p]

Earl J,
I have always eaten the wet ribs, but I tried a dry rib once at a competition and I have always wanted to find a good way to do the dry version. I will try this next weekend.
Thanks!
