Hello- I have an XL BGE in an Acacia table. Looking for something smaller for sides or quick weeknight cooks. Any recommendations from those who have multiple eggs already?

Large or medium.

Have 3 Larges, Mini Max, and a Mini. If I had to go to only two: Large and Mini.
If could only have one: Mini.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
I’ve said this before and have read it from others - the Medium is the best performer of the lineup. That being said, a Mini Max could be useful in the sense that it adds portability (to a degree!).
-
Biggest question is whether or not you’ll be traveling with it?Slumming it in Aiken, SC.
-
I like the minimax, it has decent work space, with the ps woo enough separation to do smaller low and slow cooks and or heat up to a sear station all while being technically portable.

Small. Great for smaller cooks. It also functions like its bigger siblings. My favorite egg to cook on"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

My vote would be a SBGE but that's cuz I own one. It is very versatile as noted by @WeberWho; easily run 10+ hours for L&S cooks as well as quickly up to temp for hot and fast. When you go down the SBGE road, contact CGS for the woo and stone; linked here:https://ceramicgrillstore.com/collections/big-green-egg-minimax-small-accessories-by-ceramic-grill-store Also get a High-que grate.Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey. Above all, have fun.HappyTthanksgiving.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
I have a few ( my wife is wonderful). Started with an XL, next was the MM, then picked up a used M. A L came next and a Mini ( just for fun). The last addition was a L. All that being said following the XL I would go with a L or MM. really depends on your family size and what you want to cook. Size does matter. I like having the space to cook what ever I want. Also being able to travel with an egg is important to me. Comes down to your needsNorthern New Jersey

I have XL down to mini. The medium is my favorite of the smaller eggs (anything below XL). The mediums properties lend to efficient lump usage, and rapid control of any temperature. I believe this is possible by having the inlet and exhaust of the larger eggs, and the interior volume of a smaller one. No other egg has this combination.

Vote for MiniMax, got it for the same reason you listed above, gets much more use than my large. I love it.

I have a large, small, and mini. If I could only have one it’d definitely be the small. It’s my most used egg by far.

Another vote for the Medium. I have an XL and medium and I’ve found myself using the medium a lot for week night cooks.I'm in Fredericksburg, VA, and I have an XL and a medium.

If I could do it all over again I too would go with an XL and a Medium.

Also have a ex-lg bought a lg works out perfect

I have the following BGE’s, large, medium, small and mini max. They each cook differently but I prefer the Medium..
-
Medium. I also have an XL. I went to the store to buy a mini max and left with a medium. Personally, I’d never own an egg smaller than a medium. The smaller eggs do not fit my style of cooking.
-
I too say Medium. I bought the medium and then added the XL. I use the medium M-F and the XL for weekends and holidays etc. For two people or a side it is perfect. Portability is a non-issue for me, otherwise I would do a MM. I don’t own a small, but I like a little elbow room for flipping etc.Columbus, Ohio--A Gasser filled with Matchlight and an Ugly Drum.
