Plate Setter Lifter - YES / NO ?

Ok who has one? I have been using welding gloves and it works, but I have about 2-3 seconds (tops) to set it down. I found one on Amazon made by Smokeware but it is $38, others are around $18 but have issues in the reviews. If you have one would you recommend it? Who makes It?
Thanks...
Thanks...

Not me. If I use the plate setter then its sitting in my PSWoo and I just lift it out by the handles on the Woo. No real need for a separate lifter in my book.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

I also have the AR and the spider. I guess I went in for overkill on my CGS stuff. Took advantage of Black Friday and Christmas sales. Now I have so many possible combinations of gear that I can do almost everything.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

Given you have a Woo then I would look for higher heat resistant gloves. Welder's gloves or anything recommended by your local Fire Dept will give you more time. But just an opinion here-

I will be using it with a Medium, Large and XL, all are in nests with mates. I always plan the resting place before removing the PS. I was just looking for a simple option that might be better than my welding gloves. As the gloves get older and soak up grease they don't protect as well (Time to get a new pair).Northern New Jersey

Get a lifter from KickAsh. Works like a charm on all size plate setters. https://www.kickashbasket.com/store/product-detail.php?product_id=43JMCXL said:I will be using it with a Medium, Large and XL, all are in nests with mates. I used gloves for a few years, once I got my first lifter for my large, I immediately got one for my Small too. So much better, to me!
1- A lifter is so much quicker than pulling on gloves
2- My lifters allow you to hang your platesetter on the nest shelves
3- By doing so, I don't have to take a single step to:
a. Remove the grate
b. Use my other hand to remove the platesetter, and hang it
c. Use that hand to throw in the smoking chips
d. Replace the platesetter
e. Replace the grate
f. Toss on the protein
g. I can do all the above in about the time I can pull on gloves, set down a hot plate setter, and not much else
4- By keeping the hot platesetter hanging from the shelves, my pet rattlesnakes, spiders and Welsh Corgis won't get burned
5- Gloves eventually burn through, and get grease-soaked. Lifters will outlast me and require no care/replacement
A woo setup would be overkill for me; if you cook a lot of different items, or for a lot of people, YMMV. Granted, what the lifter manufacturers charge is a lot of money for, basically, a piece of bent wire (you could make your own quite inexpensively) but the convenience, and efficiency, go on forever.
Hope that helps!

Multiple lifters here. Have 2 of the Smokeware at the house for the house on the xl. I tried with one and it’s hard to balance. Then have another for the farm and the large. I really like them.

The one shown above is the only one I know of that is made to work for the XL. I prefer the Ott grid and plate setter lifters for the smaller eggs. They are my single favorite accessory.JMCXL said:I will be using it with a Medium, Large and XL, all are in nests with mates. I always plan the resting place before removing the PS.
