The Prince had a day off yesterday and I texted him, “Chicken?”  Thinking about the wings we made last week, he replied “Gochujang?”  I said sure and asked if he was game to prep and cook while I dealt with some crap that would keep me at work later than I had expected.

The rest was all him, from buying the bird, to confirming by pic that he located the shears before attempting the surgery, to creating the marinade, and then doing the filling, lighting, set up (raised direct, 400 degrees) and cooking. I consulted a bit from the office, and a little more when I got home.  Dish duty was all mine.

As we sipped a corona with lime (his choice) while the egg worked its magic, Joe College looked over at me and said “Dad, this really isn’t that hard.”  “Yup,” I said, “but no one needs to know that.”

It was a particularly satisfying first attempt.

It's a 302 thing . . .
