OT-Sort of- Looking for a dome thermometer for an offset like the BGE

Hey, looking for 3 thermometers for an offset, problem is everything I see on Amazon.ca doesn't have just the probe but most have 1/2" NPT threaded back, and I do not believe they will be long enough for 3/8 or 1/2" steel. This is for a RF Offset we made. Best option I am thinking is just the probe style due to the thickness of the metal. Tying to not spend a pile on these either. I need 3, 2 for 3/8" and 1 for 1/2".

Have you looked on Teltru.com? They have many varieties. Also, can you thread the hole in the offset?

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I had a somewhat similar issue. I didn't want to buy a new bigger thermometer when I had a couple standard BGE thermometers laying around the house. So we drilled a hole in a bolt and shortened it so that fit the opening of the original thermometer hole. Maybe not ideal but might be a way to get around your issue.

thanks guys, I will have a look there.

Found these ones and read up on them that the 1/2 NPT is 3/4" long so these might work as well.

I like the clean look of that teltru though @fishlesssman, it also has a 4" long probe that I think would be better for this set up. Probably a more trusted brand as well I'm assuming.

Since the steel is 3/8 or 1/2 thick you could tap the holes to accept the threads on the thermometers

I will do that if needed. Just wanted it more universal.

I'm not sure why Smokeware never came up when searching amazon.ca, but they have these available. And I belive there are users on here who say they are a fairly good product.

I just got two of these for
    my BGE.

See the groove just past past where the clip meets the probe? That’s where they begin the temperature reading. I’m not at home to measure the distance between the base but and the groove. But - if that clip isn’t a deal breaker for you - I got them with a 10% coupon.  I’ll track the code down...

    edit - it’s LUCKY21

Looks like they will work, but if you don't mind getting a measurement for me. These are I will probably have to buy off Amazon Canada, free shipping that way. They are $43.00 each.
