What to do when the fire dies

Only smobot complaint is that on a couple of occasions it's managed to snuff the fire out when it decides to totally shut off air supply. It just happened during a smoke and not wanting to take the meat off, probes out, grill and platesetter off to get to the charcoal... what's your best tip for lighting the fire again?

I tried dropping a fire lighter in the side and that did nothing but I just had success by folding a load of kitchen paper up tightly, gripping it in tongs, lighting it and inserting into bottom air vent, holding it below the coals. Totally did the trick. Also took too daisy vent off.

I am sure I am in the minority, but the egg holds temperature so well I have never felt like I needed a temperature controller.  At my age and habits, of way too much beer drinking I have to get up twice a night anyway, so I just go out and check the temperature and make a slight adjustment if needed.

But as I said, the egg is the ultimate cooking machine and hold temps so steady I have just never felt like I needed a controller.

Take the cap off, open the draft door, and stick a torch in the draft door.  Then use a hair dryer, BBQ Dragon, etc to get things going again.  You don't want ash flying everywhere, so keep the speed on low.  You can also use paper, wood chips, potato chips, or another natural product sprayed with cooking oil to get it going (like a ripped up charcoal bag if it's natural kraft), but stay away from "starter cubes" if you have meat on there......Paraffin cubes / wax comes from petroleum.  Same goes for the compressed sawdust ones as they might contain pine or some other stinky binder.  Torch is the easiest and cleanest way (besides investing in a Flame Boss.)
