Egg Table Question

Hey guys,
Just picked up a new table. What do most of you use to sit your egg on in the table? I have used a concrete brick/paver on my previous table. I was told that the pavers contain chemicals that can stain the wood on the table. Looking for suggestions. Thank you

I use the BGE table nest for both of mine and it works fine. you want some sort of air gap under the egg, a paver is basically a heat sync that will burn your table down eventually.

+1 on the table nest.

Do not set it right on a paver......it's a conductor. You're losing heat to it, thus time and money. Use a table nest, ceramic flower pot feet, or some ceramic tiles to create an air gap.

Air gap created with the table nest and sit this on a layer of fire bricks.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
you can add the fire bricks but its really not needed. the air gap that the table nest provides drops the temp fast enough that it wont cause an issue. I did the math and the heat transfer drops with just an air gap and no breeze its about the same as having 14" of concrete under it.

I used my MMX on a table for a month (with it's proper feet creating an air gap) before I started noticing a change (singe?) to the table top. Went to a tile store and bought a 16"x16" piece of tile to put under it. Placed it so it sticks out further to the front to catch ash from the bottom vent. Still have the air gap from the feet and piece of mind with the tile...EggMcMcc
