LBGE Handle conversion

I must not be good at searching this forum.  Honestly I did try searching but could not find anything.  I have an older LBGE, it has the small handle.  I would like to convert to the newer larger handle.

Can this be done?

    Yes, you can replace the entire band and hinge assembly just to have a wider handle.
    Or drill new holes your current band and order a new handle.

    True, but they are normally made to fit existing size handle of the Egg.

    ok thanks, Yeah I want the larger handle to get my hand further away from the heat of high temp cooks.  I will look into a new band.

    Is burning your hand an issue now?
    I have 2 large BGEs. One with old and one with new style. Except that newer style is wider, no difference in heat resistance on hands.
    Certainly not worth replacing bands.

    I got a new band for my large a few years back; swapping the older smaller handle with the wider one.  I didn't notice a significant depth difference, just wider.  Do you burp it?  Less chance of blowback.  Also get silicon gloves.  They protect your arm from blowback singes.
